Malatya’s harvest moved quickly through the final stages. On 2026-07-14, market participants said picking was in full swing across the plains, while nearly all growers had started drying. By 2026-08-25, the harvest was reported almost complete. Only small quantities were still being collected at higher elevations.
That is a meaningful improvement in the raw-fruit position. It also shifts the commercial focus away from field progress. The next question is how much fruit has moved far enough through the post-harvest chain to meet near-term shipment requirements.
📦 Drying—not picking—sets the opening availability clock
The earlier drying report adds an important qualification. On 2026-07-28, some Malatya apricots had not fully dried, and slight delays were expected at the opening of the 2026 dried-apricot season.
That observation concerned the start of the season, so the specific bottleneck may since have eased. It does not establish an ongoing delay across the Turkish market. Still, picked fruit is not automatically available for export. It must finish drying before processors can prepare, grade, inspect and pack the required lot. For prompt business, the useful availability date is when the nominated dried product can clear those steps, not when the fresh-fruit harvest ends.
